The Indian Railway Pharmacist Association (SWR) and Indian Hospital Pharmacist Association, Mysore
Branch comprising of its members celebrated the week recently at New Sharadha
Resorts with the theme , “ PHARMACIST – A HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL “. All the
dignitaries spoke on the occasion with a motto to make aware the patients
regarding the services which can be obtained from the qualified Pharmacist for
their better health regarding medicines only from the Pharmacist. The General
Secretary/IHPA Sri. GOVERRDHAN.Y on the occasion said that there should be
one Pharmacist in every ward for care of inpatients to give the right medicines as it is only the Pharmacist who is
qualified in administering medicines by which many deaths occurring due to
reactions of drugs administered by unqualified staff in wards can be avoided
and at-most care can be provided to the Indian citizens also with par to other
countries. He also said that the B-Pharmacy Practice course will be approved at
the earliest and is expected to start from the next academic year. The
Pharmacist Associations on this occasion objected to the introduction of B.Sc
Rural Health Doctors course which got approved recently as this move is like
providing lesser qualified services to the society in-turn also degrading the MBBS
and AYUSH Medical practitioners. They expressed an opinion of giving training
to already available Health care professionals i.e. Pharmacists in diagnosis
and the AYUSH medical practitioners in
the use of certain allopathic medicines as are already qualified and registered
by which the motto of Rural service practitioners are fulfilled immediately
without any such lower qualified persons like B.Sc in Rural Health in present
trends of MD on MBBS.
